Casa Ortega
This museum-house bears witness to the presence of the great José Ortega in Matera. The great Spanish artist spent some time in the city, rediscovering local arts and crafts. It houses twenty polychrome bas-reliefs made by Ortega in 1975 in Matera, using the most popular handicraft technique: papier-mâché. The ceramics made by Giuseppe Mitarotonda, a Materan artisan, make this house even more beautiful and interesting to visit.
