Pinacoteca D’Errico in Palazzo San Gervasio
In 2014, the Pinacoteca D’Errico celebrated its centenary. The Pinacoteca is located in Palazzo San Gervasio, in the rooms chosen by Camillo D’Errico, a noble Lucanian patron and passionate collector, to host his own collection.
The exhibition is divided in three sections, strongly interconnected: the first one boasts some of the most famous works if his collection, masterpieces of the Neapolitan painting tradition dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries; the second includes a significant series of engraved illustrations, mainly dating back to the 19th century, which have been collected over the years by D’Errico; the third section features 31 antique books, valuable ‘jewels’ of an extraordinary cultural heritage.
The incredible value of the artistic treasures held by the Pinacoteca is further enhanced by the archaeological exhibition “I guerrieri di Palazzo” (“the warriors of the Palace”), where several remains found during recent expeditions and other extraordinary artefacts are displayed.
