Surrounded by olive groves, Missanello stands on a hill overlooking the Val D’Agri. Famous for the production of extra virgin olive oil with a typical delicate taste given by the particular species of olives used, the majatica.
Worth a visit are the castle of medieval origin and, among the noteworthy places of worship, the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie from the seventeenth-century and the Mother Church of San Nicola Magno, dating back to the fourteenth century, but remodelled several times in the following century. Inside there is an admirable canvas by Pietrafesa.
