The ring route starts from the historic center of Montalbano Jonico, with a quick look at the historical and cultural aspects related to its personalities, then reaches the entrance of «Appiett U Castiedd» , an historic mule track and ancient transhumance road that connected Montalbano to the royal sheep track of Metaponto. Then, the route climbs to another suggestive mule track , «Appiett U Mulin», preferred by farmers to reach the Val d’Agri. Along the way, you can admire outcrops of marine fossils (bird species) and the enchanting landscapes that characterize the area.
