Abbazie e Santuari in Basilicata

Dating back to 1629, the sacred edifice dedicated to the Madonna della Neve (Madonna of the Snow) or del Sirino can be reached by following a spectacularly beautiful path through rocks and beech woods. The small temple has a quadrangular shape and is completely covered with dry stone.  The statue of the Madonna of Sirino is carried on the shoulders of the faithful from Lagonegro to Mount Sirino at an altitude of 1907 metres, every year on the third Sunday of June.

In the 17th-century chapel of the Madonna of the Snow, her statue dwells all summer, after which she makes the reverse journey to the Church of the Trinity, in Piazza Grande, on the third Sunday of September.
