From Wine to Olive Oil- Pietragalla, the Town of “Palmenti”
5 January 2022
|By Michela Calocero
Today our guide brings you to Pietragalla, a delightful town located in the
province of Potenza.
Must-see things: the Urban Park of ‘Palmenti’, an ancient group of caves dug
into the tuff rock used as wine cellars to let the must ferment; the Ducal
Palace, an historic building which wrote the history of banditry in Basilicata;
the House-Museum of Rural Life; alleys of the Medieval town.
Lunch in a restaurant made with typical products.
In the afternoon we can enjoy a guided tour in an oil mill of the area to learn
about the production chain of the, so called, ‘yellow gold’. The secret of a
delicious recipe is, indeed, the use of a good extra vergin olive oil. The tour is
followed by a final tasting of company products.
