In my Life I Want the Best! The Amaro Lucano of Pisticci
Today our guide brings you to Pisticci, the village that is characterized by small
white houses settled in the historic centre, by the smell of some typical dishes
and by the wonderful lunar landscape of the surrounding area.
Must-see things: the Main Church, the Abbey of Casale, built on ruins of a
Greek-Byzantine monastery and then entrusted its management to
Benedectine monks, the palaces in Renaissance style along the streets of the
centre, the St. Basil Castle and the quarter ‘Dirupo’, where we can appreciate a
breathtaking view.
Lunch in a typical restaurant to enjoy the flavour of local products, in particular
the pink fig. It comes from an accurate selection of backcountry varieties and
that we can taste in different dishes, like figs coated in caramel, figs with
honey or figs with chili pepper.
In the afternoon we can visit the historical company of the Amaro Lucano, an
extract of aromatic herbs coming from the passion for herbal medicine
techniques of a pastry chef. It is about an immersive tour in the company’s
history along which the visitor can enjoy a multisensorial experience. At the
end testing time of the famous bitter.
