Castronuovo di Sant’Andrea is the birthplace of the ascetic Andrea, from the Theatine congregation, canonised in 1712 by Pope Clement XI. Near the square we find the Palazzo Marchesale, the seventeenth century Mother Church and the Chapel of Sant’Andrea, erected where the Saint’s birthplace stood. Castronuovo hosts the International Museum of Graphics, whose patrimony consists of thirty thousand volumes and 1350 sheets of the most important contemporary artists, and the “Vanni Scheiwiller” International Nativity Museum, which houses two hundred nativity scenes from all over the world.
