Cersosimo is a small village with 637 inhabitants that rises in a truly appreciable landscape, from which the village emerges, characterised by a Parish church from the XV-XVI century, some remains of the Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli dating back to the 15th century and several noble palaces, including the ancient Palazzo Valicenti, a 17th century building that retains the appearance of a noble palace with some splendid portals. The name Cersosimo derives from the Basilian monastery Kyr-Zosimo or Cir-Zosimi, from 1100, around which the centre would have formed. Kyr indicates “abbot” and Zosimo was the name of the founder of the monastery. Today there is no trace of that mystical monastery.
